Why do car wipers sweep the screen in an arc as opposed to sliding across it horizontally? Horizontal wipers seem a good idea to me because they can give much better wider coverage. Car manufacturers should give customers the choice between arc-sliding wipers or horizontal sliding ones. My only exception to automatic arc-sliding wipers would be human-powered ones. The only problem with that design might be that the driver might have to get out of the car to turn it on, or off…
