Police chase ends in crash in Penn Hills, two injured

A police pursuit of a car ended in a crash on East Lemington Avenue in Penn Hills early Sunday.  The chase began when a police officer attempted to stop the vehicle because one occupant resembled a person wanted in a homicide investigation.  The driver off the vehicle attempted to flee from the police but crashed a short time later.  Both occupants of the vehicle reportedly sustained serious injuries.

From a personal injury attorney perspective, this accident presents a unique problem for the injured passenger of the vehicle.  Most, if not all automobile insurance policies exclude coverage when the driver of the vehicle crashes and causes injury while attempting to run from the police.  It is possible that the passenger may be able to make a claim against his own uninsured motorist coverage if he in fact has does have such coverage.  A thorough review of his insurance policy is necessary to determine whether the coverage would be available.  Attorney for uninsured motorist claims.
